There are many different types of therapy out there and it can get confusing which to choose. I have trained at the Minster Centre in integrative psychotherapy and counselling. This means that I draw upon different approaches at different times, recognising that every individual requires a unique approach. It also means that I work with the unconscious in order to help you to achieve a greater sense of wholeness.
I welcome in all aspects of the self, from the physical to the cognitive, and the emotional to the spiritual. I hold the body in awareness when I work, particularly its way of holding and expressing emotions. I encourage clients to talk about anything they wish to discuss, without prescription or self-censorship.
I strongly believe that giving attention to the things that hurt us, with self-compassion, can lead to increased vitality, creativity and empowerment. Similarly, reflecting on early experiences, when ready to do so, can help us make sense of our emotions and responses to life. Ultimately however, it is the experience of being in relationship that acts as the greatest doorway to deeper understanding of the self.
